can someone help me solve this math problem?..... graph y=-5^x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The graph in general will look something similar to e^x, but with a slight difference to 5^x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my book shows me the answer, but it looks nothing like that...it's supposed to be upside down . does anyone else knows how to solve it .......y=-5^x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry i did not see the - sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have to flip it let me do it for u

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that one clear?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah thanks ...could you explain me what you did to get the answer ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well there are several way to think about this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. you may choose several values for x, then find y and plot them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2. you may use ms office to plot it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3. you may use ur instinct in which you already know how this graph looks like, in which i said it looks similar to e^x, but since u multiplied the whole function by - sign then u have to flip it upside down

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is what my teacher told me to do
