Need this answer FAST! Here: Compare pulmonary and systemic circulation using key vocabulary terms arteries, veins, and capillaries.
Pulmonary circulation functions to carry blood to the lungs where it can be infused with oxygen and where carbon dioxide can be released via exhalation. Systemic circulation functions to distribute oxygenated blood to all tissues of the body and to bring carbon dioxide back to the pulmonary circulation. So using your terms.. pulmonary arteries contain low oxygen levels and high carbon dioxide levels whereas systemic arteries contain high oxygen content and low carbon dioxide content. Pulmonary veins contain high oxygen levels and low carbon dioxide levels whereas systemic veins contain low oxygen levels and high carbon dioxide levels. Capillaries are different in that pulmonary capillaries involve the entry of oxygen into circulation and exit of carbon dioxide out of circulation while systemic capillaries involve the exit of oxygen out of circulation and the entry of carbon dioxide into circulation.
