Jane has $5000. She invests a portion of her money at a simpl e interest rate of 5% and the rest of her money at a simple interest rate of 6.2%. After one year, the total interest earned on these investments is $292.00. How much money did she invest at 5%?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

x= dollars invested at 5% 5000-x= dollars invested at 6.2% .05x = interest earned on x dollars .062(5000-x)=interest earned on 5000-x dollars. Add the interest earned on x dollars + interest earned on 5000-x dollars and set it equal to 292
