What are some things that Hispanic families due that we Americans dont.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Spanish or Hispanic, as in from Mexico?

OpenStudy (dean.shyy):

The might be fond of eating HISPANIC food dishes, instead of AMERICAN food dishes. They might uphold on their HISPANIC cultural values, than AMERICAN cultural values. There is much more, but you would have to do some research regarding cultural differences.

A big aspect of cultural differences has to do with what country the person is. There is Honduras, Colombian, Venezuelan, Mexican, and a lot more. I am from Honduras and I can give you some examples, but my answer is not absolute since it might not apply to everyone. Some examples are that family values may generally more traditional and more strict. Many Hispanics may tend to be more religious and this may be a big part in the the family's value system. We celebrate Christmas Eve, and the day of Christmas is more like a relax day, the feast is on the 24th and we tend to stay up really really late. In Christian homes, a lot of time they don't eat meat or go out from "holy week", good Friday and Easter. I would say that a big priority is family, and we value that above many things. Family referring to grandparents, uncles, cousins etc. We tend to get together very often. Celebrations of certain holidays are a reason for big feasts and celebrations. Families tend to be large since first, second, and third cousins are all the same to us. I would say that we are hard working people, not that Americans aren't, but we don't focus too much on technicalities. Since a lot of Hispanics families have family members that were born in our native country or them selves were born in another country, we are exposed to the knowledge and a more clear testimony of some of the experiences back in our countries. I would say that Hispanic-Americans are more pushed to value thing. It may sound like a cliche to say that we don't really know what we have until we loose it, but since many know what it's like not to have all the advantages this country offers, we value things a lot more. There are endless typical foods we tend to eat. We have typical music that we usually dance to at our get together. This is not much, but I hope it helps. Once again, this is from my perspective and may not apply to everyone.
