Solve the combined inequality and select the answer that best describes the graph of the solution. 2x + 8 < 10 or 3x - 3 > 12 Open dot at -1 shaded to the left, closed dot at 4 shaded to the right Closed dot at -1 shaded to the left, closed dot at 5 shaded to the right Closed dot at 1 shaded to the left, closed dot at 5 shaded to the right. None of the above

2x + 8 < 10 2x < 10 - 8 2x < 2 x < 1 3x - 3 > 12 3x > 12 + 3 3x > 15 x > 5 we know that it has to be open dots because there is no equal signs. we know that x is smaller then 1 and bigger then 5. can you figure the answer out with this information ?

you know that it can't be the 2nd or 3rd one because it cannot have a closed dot. And there shouldn't be any dots on -1. So that just leaves one answer....none of the above. By the way, what are you testing people for ? Are you trying to see how well they can explain the problem ?
