Long Side: Short Side The Big One A+B:A The Small One A:B What were you thinking? Was the square piece confusing you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm just confused at the whole question...

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

The clue was the word "similar". This requires you to figure out which sides are proportional. With a rectangle, there aren't too many choices. I was looking at the square and not making sense of it. Then I realized I should ignore it, since it can't possibly be similar to a non-square.

so it would a + b?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Long Side : Short Side a : a+b is short : long on the large rectangle. You need long : short on the small rectangle. a : b Done.
