what can limit the size of a cell

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cell size is limited by the possibility to absorb nutrients. the lower limit is just the minimum size a cell has to have to house all the organelles. The upper limit is linked with absorbing nutrients. The cell will gain volume, so it will need more nutrients, the cell surface will also increase, but not as rapid as it's volume. So there will be a moment where the uptake of nutrients isn't sufficient to feed the whole cell
