OpenStudy (experimentx):

try googling major axis of ellipse ... and also put your equation on WolframAlpha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i tried alpha, didn't help..but this is what i got so far x^2/b^2 + y^2 /a^2=1 x^2/2500 + y^2/8100=1 x^2/50^2 + y^2 / 90^2 = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

don't know if it's right or not though lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

major axis is like the longest diameter of an ellipse

OpenStudy (experimentx):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellipse hit Ctrl + F and type major axis

OpenStudy (experimentx):

yes ... in this figure what is the longest diameter? http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=x%5E2%2F2500%2By%5E2%2F8100%3D1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a....y^2/90

OpenStudy (experimentx):

no ... look for both sides

OpenStudy (experimentx):

what is the length ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hm 50 is one length, 90 is the other

OpenStudy (experimentx):

no ... you are not measuring correctly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm what are the lengths

OpenStudy (experimentx):

how long is your ellipse?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

90? :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't know what you mean, that's all i'm seeing haha

OpenStudy (experimentx):

no ... look again ... look on both sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i add them together?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's the pic i'm looking at lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you just tell me so i'll know what you mean :)

OpenStudy (experimentx):

earlier i game you link .. you should have noted.

OpenStudy (experimentx):

in that picture ... how long is that ellipse?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i told you what i thought it wass ha, i don't know another answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

180?

OpenStudy (experimentx):

OpenStudy (experimentx):

yes ... that's your major axis.
