Need help with making an equation for the following problem: A sum of $15,000 is split, and the two parts are invested at 8% and 6%, respectively. If the interest for the 8% exceeds the interest from the 6% investment by $360, how much is invested at each rate?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

consider one x and other y and proceed

I understand this but I am not sure how to make the equation: for example do I X.08 + Y.06= 360?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let split be x and y now 8%x=6%y +360$

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah you're right, great!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and x+y=15000
