A new car is priced at $20,500 without taxes and fees. The state sales tax is 4%, the city sales tax is 1.5% and the registration fee is $45. What is the cost including taxes and fees?

20500 is your base price. so 20500 x .04 (4%) is 820. 1.5% of the base price is 307.50. add 20500+820+307.50+45 (the registration fee) and you get 21672.50

its 20500 times 1.5% (in decimal form, .015) and you get 307.50. Just type it in on your calculator and you should come up with that

np. Remember, when converting decimals, like 1% for example, just move the "decimal" over two places to get .01. For example, 1% of 1 dollar is .01 (1 cent)
