Not too sure... could you please check/help? :) For the function, state the amplitude, period, phase shift, and vertical translation of the graph for the sinusoid. y=2cos(2pi x) a. Amplitude: _____________ b. Period: _______________ c. Phase Shift: ________________ d. Vertical Translation: ________________ ***i will attach it inside as well just in case :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just in case!!! :) @jim_thompson5910 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

amplitude= 2 is that right? ;/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

period: 2pi/B= 2pi/2= pi period= pi is that right??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

phase shift= C/B = 1/2 phase shift= 1/2 is that right>? ;/ not too sure on this one :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

vertical translation: 0 is that right?? ;/ again, not too sure on this one :/

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Quite a mouthful... Let's start with period... which takes the form \[\huge \frac{2\pi}{B}\]But in this case, isn't it that \[\huge B=2\pi\]?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

\[\huge y=2\cos(2\pi x)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk... im confused.... :/

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

The period is given by \[\large \frac{2\pi}{B}\] Where B is whatever coefficient the x had within the sin or the cos. For instance, if it were... \[\large y=\sin{2x}\]instead, then the period would be \[\large \frac{2\pi}{2}=\pi\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh i see... okay... so I'm right?? :) period= pi ??

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

No. Because in this case... |dw:1362699850644:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh okay... so 2pi x is one value only?? so the period is pi x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1362699978083:dw| ??????? :/
