Need help with: ax^2 + bx + c 4x^2 - 6x + 1 = 0 I couldn't figure out the answer so I looked it up on Wolfram Alpha and it said the answers were x = 1/4, 3 - √5, and 0.19098 and x = 1/4, 3 + √5, and 0.13090 But when I looked it up some more it said that 3 - √5 = 6.708 3 + √5 - 5.236 I'm supposed to be finding the x decimals so I can graph them and make a parabola, but I'm not sure how to find the correct answer.
Welll you use the quadratic formula -b ± √(b² - 4ac) all over 2a the a b and c are the coefficients so 4x^2 - 6x + 1 6 ± √((-6²) - 4(4)(1)) all over 2(4) so 6 ± √36 - 16 all over 8 6 ± √20 all over 8 6 ± 2√5 all over 8 so your 2 points will be 6 + 2√5 all over 8 = 1.309 and 6 - 2√5 all over 8 = .19098 could be wrong but
Oh okay, I get it now! Thanks so much.
