When writing a paper do you use quotation marks around another persons work? Ex: Beccarias paper Crime and Punishment... would I use quotation marks or would I underline it?
i usually use quotation. and if the quote is from a book put its author and the specific page in parenthesis. Ex. Is it possible that dreams may express "profound aspects of personality" (Foulkes 184)?
If you are paraphrasing, quotations are not necessary as long as you state where the idea is coming from and cite it , and the specific location within the publication, in the bibliography. If you quote the article at any point, to any meaningful degree, it is safer to use quotations and cite your reference at the end of the sentence (as you have demonstrated) and in more depth in the bibliography. If you are unsure how to cite your sources, a website that aids you in creating citations for the format your professor or teacher requests can be incredibly useful. I usually used this one: http://www.easybib.com/
