Just subtract 15 from both sides.... 3y < (-6 - 15) 3y < -21 now divide both sides by 3 y = -7

3y < (-6 - 15) 3y < -21 y < -7 numbers below -7 are solution to the inequality. On number line diagram draw a dot at 7 and draw thick arrow towards left hand side.
