On sunday I was playing billard and could not help but wonder why on earth the white ball never completely stopped when I hit some other ball. All balls have the same mass so if the conservation of momentum holds the white ball should stop and the other ball should move on with the speed the white ball had. Why does this not happen? Friction should not interfere is such way so what is going on?
