-8<4(x+2)<20 solve inequality please explain how to work it

OpenStudy (kamille):

You need to left x, which is in the middle of inequality "alone", where shouldnt be any numbers by it. So, firstly, you need to divide both sides of ineq of 4 -8<4(x+2)<20|:4 you get -2<x+2<5 as you see, you still have "2" near x, right? So all you need to do is substract 2 from both sides of ineq -2<x+2<5|-2 -4<x<3 your answer is (-4;3)
