When a die is thrown, what is the probability that the number is greater than 1, given that it is odd?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The odd numbers on a die are 1, 3 and 5. You are given that the number is odd, therefore the number is either 1 or 3 or 5. So you need to find the probabiity of the number being either 3 or 5. Do you follow?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i follow.....so what is the probability

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 2/3

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The probability of the number being 1 is 1/3. The probability of the number being 3 is 1/3. The probability of the number being 5 is 1/3. The probability of the number being 3 or 5 is 1/3 + 1/3 = ?
