What is the solution of 6 = 36/x+3 Please help me!!!

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

well x has to equal 3...but I'm not toooo sure how to get there....I haven't done these in a while

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x = 3 but \[x \neq -3\] ?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

yes that is correct....because the denominator cannot be 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, thank you, can you help me with something else?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Yuri makes his own citrus vinaigrette salad dressing. He likes the dressing best if it contains 30% fruit juice. He has a bottle of dressing mixture that contains 60% juice and 3 cups of dressing that contains 10% juice. How much of the dressing mix with 60% juice should Yuri add to the dressing mix with 10% juice to get the dressing he prefers with 30% juice? Show your work.

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

ahh okay....so he likes 30% juice...he has a bottle of 60% juice...and has 3 cups of 10% juice Well if he has 3 cups....we need to figure out how much of the 60% juice to add to each of the 3 cups to average out to 30% cup 1 has 10%...so add 20% of the 60% juice. cup 2 has 10% so add 20% of the 60% juice and cup 3 has 10% so add 20% of the 60% juice Now you have 3 cups filled with 30% juice....and no more 60% juice left over. That could be totally wrong and i invite anyone to correct me
