I think your perspective is skewed since it's a gender-neutral question. Guys lead girls on for the same reasons girls lead guys on. And these reasons are legion - Greed, cowardice, empathy, sympathy, psychopathology, maintenance of the status quo...and that's just off the top of my head. But the reasons are virtually irrelevant when you're the one left standing out in the rain.
