Monitoring the intensity of your cardiovascular activity is almost as important as the time spent in the activity. Explain what methods of monitoring you use and two reasons why this is such an important part of your workout.

Heart rate, if your heart is working too hard it is important to stop, if it isn't working hard enough you aren't doing much for yourself. Sweat production, shows your body is working and shows you need to stay hydrated. Those are two of many things to monitor.
