word problem: Jenna's ipod has 250 songs on it and she adds 3 new songs every week. Amy's ipod has 320 songs on it and she adds 1 new song every week. In how many weeks will Jenna and Amy have the same amount of songs on their iPods

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

So from our word problem we are able to derive two functions Jenna (J) and Amy (A) \[J=250+3x\]and\[A=320+x\] Do you understand how I derived these?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i understand how you got those two equations

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

So what we want to do now is set them equal and solve for x where x=the number of weeks. We do this because it will tell us where these two functions intersect aka when they both have the same number of songs

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

so we have \[250+3x=320+x\] Do you know how to solve this equation for x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, I got 35 weeks. @FibonacciChick666

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

that is the correct answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank youu(:

OpenStudy (fibonaccichick666):

np good luck
