two dice are rolled, what is P(number on white die is larger than number on black die) s=36

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

The probability is the number of desired outcomes over the total number of outcomes. If two dice are rolled, there are 36 possible outcomes. Count the desired outcomes: If the black die is a 1, the white die can be 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (5 desired outcomes) If the black die is a 2, the white die can be 3, 4, 5, 6 (4 desired outcomes) If the black die is a 3, the white die can be 4, 5, 6 (3 desired outcomes) If the black die is a 4, the white die can be 5, 6 (2 desired outcomes) If the black die is a 5, the white die can be 6 (1 desired outcomes) Add all the number of desired outcomed together and divide by the total number of outcomes.
