what method can be used for separating a mixture of sand and salt?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Salts are soluble in water. rinse your mixture with water. the salts are separated from sands. then by Sublimation, separate the salt from water.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

not sublimation though, distillation sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pardon! we use distillation for separating two liquids that have distant boiling points.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

or you can heat up the solution until the water boils away and the salt remains. How will you make salt sublimate?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its actualy filtration my mom helped me but thanks anyway

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jrod326 I think that practically filtration wont work. because maybe very small particles of sand also transmit from the filter.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@aaronq I misused the term. I should have said "Condensation" not "Sublimation". Pardon me.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

@jrod326 you can't filtrate the salt out when its dissolved in the water. @ardalan distillation is the technique, condensation refers to the physical process of the vapour reverting back to the liquid phase.
