you have two equations: \[x + y = 165\] \[2x + 3.50y = 465\] x - number of junior y - number of senior Solve for both!

I mean just solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do I do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@pinkmommy to solve for a variable isolate one by itself in the first equation. Such as: y=165-x. Now fill that into the other equation. 2x + 3.50(165-x) = 465. So now you have 2x + 577.5 - 3.5x = 465. Combine the X terms, subtract 577.5 from each side. X = 75. So take X and fill it in. 75 + y = 465. 465 - 75 = Y, Y = 390.

I'm sorry. I solved this already.
