help me idk how to do these! i have an appointment for 2:00 pm and my journey by car will take 3/4 of an hour. at what time should i leave??

OpenStudy (zehanz):

I would leave at 1:00 pm, leaving a bit of time to spare...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do u do it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is 3/4 of 60 min?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

45 min right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u divide 60 by 4 then multiply by 3?

OpenStudy (zehanz):

I leave at 1:00 pm. I drive for 3/4 of an hour. Then it is 1.45 pm, so I have 15 minutes left.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya u r right

OpenStudy (zehanz):

3/4 of an hour is 3/4 of 60 minutes, so 45 minutes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so u should leave 45 min earlier

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thnx there's a question it's the same but like it says the appointment is very important

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the difference

OpenStudy (zehanz):

Well, I wouldn't do that, because I'd like to have some built-in spare time. Maybe I have to look for a parking spot, or need to go to the bathroom... So having 15 minutes extra is not a bad idea imo.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it means u shuld be earlier than ur regular time...bcz if it important u cant be late and who knows u get stuck in traffic or something...so instead of 45 min i would leave before an hour

OpenStudy (zehanz):

If the appopintment is very important, then I would certainly take som extra time. How much? That's up to you to decide.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

emm i don't know it's a question like from the maths book

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well thanks anyway

OpenStudy (zehanz):

You have to think for yourself in this case and decide what is reasonable. It hasn't got much to do with maths.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For sure you couldn't leave any later then 1:15....but that would be cutting it close.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thnx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have an appointment for 4:15 my journey by car will take 35 minutes and i wish to stop at my friends house (on the way) for 20 minutes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

start 20+35 = 55 minutes earlier

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) do u mind if i ask u another question or r no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

go ahead

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thnx so much! another appointment question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have an appointment for 11:45am. my journey by car normally takes 0 minutes but there i a detour for road which will increase my journey by 10 percent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0 min?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u sure journey takes 0 minutes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry it's 50 minutes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have an appointment for 11:45am. my journey by car normally takes 50 minutes but there is a detour for road works which will increase my journey by 10 percent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so now take 10% of 50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which is 5 add it to 50 and u got ur answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

55 :) oh rite okay thnx so much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)
