The C-C bond strength is 100 KCal/mol what is the strength of a single C-C bond?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

divide by avogadros number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are right. but can you write the number?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

avogadros?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We get \[1.6 \times 10^{-20}\] Calories. So does a C-C bond exists? by this energy we can break this bond by blinking.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

ohh i get what you're getting at. I guess it's such a small amount of energy that bonds are always being broken and remade, not really sure how it works on a macroscale level and why we don't fall apart, maybe that could be attributed to the amount of bonds there are? lol

It has been a paradox for me. I am totally fallen into the darkness.
