Awesome! Great job! I am just wondering if somehow you could have it connect to our account and show how many mentions, or notifications we have, and a preview of them - sort of like an iPhone. (Though I don't know how hard this would be, and I could never do this myself, so I shouldn't really be complaining.)

It's possible that the rapid change in color can cause a serieuze...
If you feel like vomiting don't look at it, and uninstall the extension.
(Right click it and click "Remove from Chrome".)

I haven't tried it yet. I like the idea, but the gifs slow down my computer a lot.

I programmed it to inject the JavaScript file after, the original page is loaded.
You should experience very little lag.

well, the gifs though... they never stop, and several of them going on at the same time cause lags.

I've added a few more small things.
Improvements:
To cancel gifs now press the 'esc' key.
Right click to access the options page. (Adding a disable button soon).
I also cleaned some of the unnecessary lines of code.

Source code attached below, feel free to improve some stuff :-).

I don't notice any change in terms of lag despit ethe new comressions system, though I love that it handles the esc as a way to stop the animation!!!
