I'd go with (B) myself, that it quickly spread throughout the Middle East and North Africa. This was especially true following Muhammad's death as his followers quickly spread Islam throughout the region, unifying tribes and creating an engine of empire culminating in the Umayyad, and following them, Abbasid, caliphates.
