with what?
what is "inter quartile range" does it mean the middle half?
we can do this
the area of that triangle on the right is 1, because the area has to be one therefore the height is \(\frac{1}{4}\)
how?
how did you get height 1/4?
i mean on the left, not on the right, but i just noticed that we do not have to even calculate it, just say if it is bigger or less than 4
i got \(\frac{1}{4}\) as the height because the total area has to be one, and the area of a triangle is \(\frac{1}{2}bh\) in this case the base is 8 so the height must be \(\frac{1}{4}\)
it doesn't matter anyway, because you don't actually have to compute it, you just have to say if it is larger or smaller than 4 and it is clearly smaller
this is more than half the area |dw:1363143091389:dw|
for the one on the right the interquartile range will be larger than 4, because the area between 2 and 6 is clearly less than half the total area
this is less than half the area |dw:1363143276106:dw|
