what is the degree and number of terms for 3/x + 5

I don't now if this --> 3/x + 5 is 3/(x+5) or (3/x) + 5 but either way, the expression is not a polynomial. Degree applies to polynomials. The posted expression has one or two terms depending on whether the "5" is trapped in a denominator or is "free."
