Help please!!! :) What is –5 • 8 • (–7)? A.–280 B.–240 C.240 D.280

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Okay... rule about multiplying integers... Same sign --> Positive product Different sign --> Negative product. Let's look at some simple cases... (-4) •8 = -32 since the signs are different, on the other hand (-4)•(-7) = 28 since the signs are the same :) That said, what's -5•8 ?

you would simple multiply straight across. -5*8=-40 take -40*-7=280. two negatives cancel each other out when multiplying :)
