I find the reading journals to be helpful, because it cleared my mind and opened my knowledge to new quotes I haven’t heard before. Some quotes are very straightforward and easily understood, while other are just boring which makes it hard to respond and reflect to. Regardless, I still managed to fulfill the requirement, because I wanted to earn an A for the class and get into the habit of writing my ideas and feelings down on paper. Not only that, but knowing that writing your thoughts, ideas and feelings on a regular basis is guaranteed to make one a smarter and stronger writer. And since I don’t usually write my thoughts down on paper much, I decided to use this journal as a way to allow me to become comfortable and ease my struggles when it comes to writing. Furthermore, I actually found it a great tool, because its not about perfectionism rather its more about just getting your feelings down and expressing yourself without worries and stress. I motivated by self to do the assignment by reminding my self that it could benefit me to become a better writer, its a requirement, and most importantly because I wanted to earn a deserving grade in the class. At times the reading journal was easy and other it was a bit stressful because like I said some quotes were meaningless and I couldn’t provide much insight on them. Therefore, i noticed it stressful to finish a two page reflection on a single quote in which I didn’t find useful nor clear. However, there were a few quotes which I found very relate able and simply true, such as Walt Disney, Malcolm X, and Margaret Thatcher once. They were very true and understood about pursuing ones dreams and a successful education. I learned new quotes and was inspired to get into the habit of enjoying and feeling comfortable with writing. I just hope that instead of responding to quotes we can just do free writes instead, that way its less stressful and a better option to put down our personal thought and feelings down with ease and weightless.
