Attention to the math group: Please don't cheat or be dependent on others. Try to do your problems yourselves!
You do NOT want to be like this guy.
Right math comes with practice; if you see someone else do it you learn nothing!
lol
:-P
did you do it yourself? I had couple of friends who could copy things from meter or two far apart.
Yeah, I do it myself. :-P
No i meant when i was 6 th grader, i had couple of such friends.
lol... but this is online cheating: copying from the far west to the far east... about 10,000 kilometers :-)
What happened?
By that, I mean, why is this suddenly being brought up? Was there a big issue of cheating recently?
Each question is an issue of cheating. :-)
I LOL'd so hard at that picture.
@SWAG me to xD
In my opinion, there needs to be a posting on EVERY question of the Open Study policy for asking for help.
FLVS banned their students from seeking help on this site o_O
O_o are they having a big problem with u guys?
but why?
People aren't being tutored their just being given the answers.
What's FLV?
Florida Virtual School
what kind of school is FLVUS ???
Homeschooled, you learn online. Hence "Virtual".
That's risky... was that well-thought out? How does it stop students from cheating online, say, on exams?
*homeschool kids * jk xD
Someone's watching?
There not proctored but they can tell if you copy something off the internet.
Wonder how they do that....
Multiple choice I don't believe they have a way of checking. I have no idea, but never copy anything off of yahoo or wiki or they'll be all over ya
Even if you change it up a little its still not your work.
Hmmm... well, in the long run, the cheater doesn't learn anything... ideally.
Yep, I come here often if I'm stuck or if I want to check an answer and I haven't got in trouble for that.
guys i have been telling people the same thing for 2 years but they still cheat and never learn :(
It's new guys, I hope...
They said that even though OS says their a tutoring site too many people give out the answer instead of helping.
They have to be willing to learn. :-)
Since there is no dedicated answer givers, and just anyone can blurt out a response .... yeah, that happens
I have kinda stopped answering questions because of that. It's very hard to explain for me. However, we do have people like @Directrix, @jim_thompson5910, @Mertsj and of course THE AMISTRE!
we also have subject headers that are spread all over the academic map, that users can hide in to swap answers relatively undetected
Parth, the trick is to let the asker do the explaining :)
Should I just leave the question if the answer does not have the most basic knowledge of the question?
asker*
well, if they are not willing to provide you with some clue as to what they know .. i tend to just leave and move on. When they want to learn the material, theyll participate
OK, will keep that in mind. :-)
some questions i answer just for the sake of remembering how to do it lol
There are questions that are so simple (forgive the slight pomp) that's it's incredibly difficult to help out without providing the answer ever so explicitly...
HAHAHA :-P
@terenzreignz You articulated my feeling really accurately. :-)
And fancily :D But you said i was too comprehensive o.O
x+2 = 5 , what is x? yeah, thats a hard one to teach without rooting out the basics. It also seems like a lazy question, but i have to be careful to judge on those
to that, I usually say... do you know what you add 2 to get 5?
if you know you have 5 kittens, and you only see 2 of them ripping apart the curtains, how many do you not see chewing on the extension cords?
Epic!
lol, i like word problems
imho "virtual school" = virtual learning
@satellite73 LOL! That made me laugh so hard
And also, virtual social abilities.
Virtual personality.
glad to lighten it up a bit, but really, can you imagine? the only thing more criminal is "home schooling" i.e. parents who have the hubris to believe they are competent to teach subjects they no little or nothing about (or ignore those subjects all together)
*know (which is why i would not attempt to teach anyone english)
