If a protien is heated to a high tempurature, what do you predict would be the most likely effect on the protien? A.The protien would become denatured, losing its shape, and would not be able to function properly B.The protien would work more efficiently as the higher tempurature would increase the reaction rate C.The protien would break apart into the origanal amino acids that made up the protien D.The protien would fold into a different shape and catalyze a different type of chemical reaction
I am not 100 percent sure but I thinnk b
nope it's not B... what happens to your hair (protein) when you straighten it with an iron?
Or think of eggs when you cook them. You cannot reverse it.
When a protein becomes "denatured," it means that the structure and form of the protein is changed. maud101 gives us a good example. Eggs are made up of proteins. And when we heat them up, the liquid white part of the egg becomes solid. It changes. It becomes DENATURED. You see?
Yes. Thak you very much! :)
