Fred has 10 coins in a book bag. He has 4 quarters, 1 penny, and 5 dimes. If Fred reaches into his book bag and draws a coin without looking, what is the probability that he will draw a quarter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The probability is 4/10 or 40% because out of 10 coins, 4 are quarters. You don't need to factor in surface area or anything like that

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

well we have 10 coins in all.....and there are 4 quarters right? so if he reaches in and pulls a coin ...he has 4/10 chance of getting a quarter simplify this if you want 2/5 chance
