miss sanchez installed a new window in her living room TOP: 36 INCHES SIDE: 48 INCHES what is he ratio of the width to the height of the window?? A. 3 TO 4 B. 3 TO 7 C. 4 TO 3 D. 4 TO 7
it is 36 by 48 right? we can write this as 36/48 big fraction huh? simplify it what is the simplified version of that?
im soooooo confused!!!
which step? well lets see...if we say the ratio of 2 to 4....we can write that as 2/4 right? then we just simplify that fraction...what number can go into both the top number (numerator) and bottom number (denominator) evenly? in this example...2...so it would simplify to 1/2....also written as 1 to 2 in YOUR example....36/48 what number goes into both of these numbers evenly? 12 does right? 36/12 is 3 48/12 is 4 right so we have 3/4 also written as 3 to 4
Express it as a fraction: 36/48 but use a colon: 36:48 Now reduce that fraction to it's lowest terms and you have your answer.
but by what 2 numbers can u simplify it by??
What do you mean?
never mind i got it
wait here
k
i got 6/8
see how 6/8 can be simplified farther? 2 can go into both of those numbers right? simplify it more
You're correct as far as value, but you have one more reduction to go.
kk
Yes, 2 can go into those 2 numbers. :-)
i got 3/4
there we go :)
You got it!!
yay!!!!!
:-)
so the answer is A
you are correct :)

ok :)
you can't simplify it
exactly :) ...the answer would be....?
Excellent! That's correct!
F??
correct :)
jared drives his hybrid car 220 miles on just 4 gallons of gas. which of the following rates is equal to 220 miles to 4 gallons?? A. 4:220 B. 110:4 C. 110:2 D. 220:2
same thing...which of these answer can happen when you simplify 220:4?
I simplify it??
yes...you can...if he travels 220 miles with 4 gallons of gas.....how many miles can he travel in 2 gallons of gas?
as a fraction it would be 220/4 right??
correct...but what number can go into both of those numbers? (and while yes it could be 4 , that isn't one of your answers) try 2
i got 110/2
