What does LaTeX mean, and why are the letters "T," and "X" capitalized?

I researched this for a decent amount of time, and could never find a genuine answer. Hmm.

Well, the "X" isn't the letter "x." It's the greek letter \(\chi\) (chi). As for the "T," I'm not sure.

Hmm. "TeX" came about before the the "La" was added to it, so that might lead to a more fruitful search.
