OpenStudy (abb0t):

Ok..

OpenStudy (mertsj):

You need to know that a radius that is perpendicular to a chord bisects the chord. So use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the missing leg of the triangle and multiply that answer by 2

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Actually that will be 1/2 of x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmmmm ok let me try it

OpenStudy (mertsj):

\[(6.8)^2+4^2=(\frac{1}{2}x)^2\]

OpenStudy (mertsj):

\[62.24=\frac{1}{4}x^2\]

OpenStudy (mertsj):

\[248.96=x^2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you multiplied by 4 on both sides?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

yes

OpenStudy (mertsj):

\[\sqrt{248.96}=\sqrt{x^2}\]

OpenStudy (mertsj):

\[15.8=x\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{248.96} = 15.77\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i round it right right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok Man thanks a whole bunch i have a test tomorrow and i needed a little help with this thanks !

OpenStudy (mertsj):
