a rectangles lenght is 4 inches more than its width. the sum of the length and width is 13 inches. what is the width?

well, the sum means they are added together, so
L+W=13.
And you know that L=w+4.
So plug back is L to get
(w+4) + w=13,
subtract four from each isde
2w=9,
so my bad!
w=4.5

it would be set up the same way.
so the equation would look like:
(x+2) +x=15
x being satuday.
so then 2x=13
divide by 2 and get 6.5 :)

H=2L
the high temp was also 33 more than the low temp
H=L+33
So setting them equal to each other
L+33=2L
then i would subtract L to get
33=L
So then plug back in L
h=(33)+33
so the high temp would be 66
