Bag A contains 3 white marbles and 2 red marbles. Bag B contains 6 white marbles and 3 red marbles, find the probability of drawing a white marble from Bag A followed by a white marble from Bag B 2/5 3/5 9/14

Parth (parthkohli):

\[P(\text{getting a white marble from bag A}) \times P(\text{getting a white marble from bag B)}\]

@experimentX

OpenStudy (experimentx):

probability is always less than 1 ... follow the instructions given above.

OpenStudy (experimentx):

and try to find one by one.

Parth (parthkohli):

The probability is always less than 1, unless it's the probability of you dying after Chuck Norris tickles you for a second. :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9/14

Parth (parthkohli):

@soonerboy You sure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im 88% sure it is

Parth (parthkohli):

and how so?

OpenStudy (experimentx):

try to find the individual probability ... what is the probability of drawing a white marble from Bag A ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that for a

OpenStudy (experimentx):

okay .. that's correct!! @soonerboy explain it to @begzat

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is for b 6/9 then you simplify it it will be 2/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

medal please for a king

OpenStudy (experimentx):

okay okay ... thank you!! could you explain it to @begzat I am a bit busy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first you count how many whit marbles in bag A. Which 3 and then you count how many marbles you got together which is 5. and you do the same thing to bag B. but you have simplify the 6/9 to 2/3

OpenStudy (experimentx):

and how do you find the combined probability?? think probability as a chance. suppose you are lucky you get away without doing homework at school. will you still be lucky to punch someone in face and get away without getting hurt? how about couple of fights and get away with out getting hurt?

OpenStudy (experimentx):

just think ... 3/5 chance to get white out of that box. and 2/3 chance or get while out of another box. should you chance increase or decrease??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

increase

OpenStudy (experimentx):

lol .. no!! you have 3/5 ... three out of five ... in five times, you would get away three times. get away at school without being punished by your teacher. you have 2/3 chance ... two out of three ... in every three fights, you win two of them. ------------------------------------------------- what in some particular day ... what is your chance that you get away without doing homework .. and getting in fight and winning it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i understand what you mean but... sometimes the brain take a brake you know lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol yeah im tired right now

OpenStudy (experimentx):

yeah yeah ... take a break as long as you wish.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks guys for helping me :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np

OpenStudy (experimentx):

multiply those probabilities

OpenStudy (experimentx):

that is your answer.
