What is the measure of angle XYZ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Directrix (directrix):

Theorem: An angle formed by two chords intersecting within a circle has measure half that of the arc it cuts off plus half that cut off by the arc of its vertical angle.

OpenStudy (dean.shyy):

I am rusty with arc degrees and angles for geometry, but Is it not just 86 degrees?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's confusing me a tad bit. And no it's not.. I'm looking for the inner angle, not the arc.

Directrix (directrix):

It is confusing. That's why we need a diagram.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Si, si

Directrix (directrix):

This is a better study tool.

Directrix (directrix):

That makes more sense, I think.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh. Now I feel blonde. We worked that theorem out yesterday. I'm gonna write this stuff down from now on. Thanks. So the answer would be 65?

Directrix (directrix):

Let me check that 65.

Directrix (directrix):

I got 65.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Me too. So that's the answer. Thank you very much, sir!

Directrix (directrix):

You are welcome. Glad to help.
