What is the measure of arc BD in the diagram below?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isnt it 20 as well?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think it is.

Directrix (directrix):

The angle formed by two secants drawn to a circle from an exterior point has measure half the difference of the two intercepted arcs. That would be half the difference of the far arc and the near arc.

Directrix (directrix):

See the attachment for diagram.

Directrix (directrix):

So what would the angle measure be? @rykibloom

Directrix (directrix):

We have to do a little Algebra.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

45?

Directrix (directrix):

20 = 1/2 ( 85 - x) where x is the measure of arc BD.

Directrix (directrix):

45 is what I got.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Me too, obviously. Thanks for the help! I hate college -_-

Directrix (directrix):

If you are going to be there, you might as well like it. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's true. I'll warm up to it eventually. Thanks again :)
