absolute value...it is the number of places from 0 a number is so say we have 3....that is 3 places from 0 right? now the important part what about -3? that is STILL 3 places from 0...just in the opposite direction... the absolute value of a positive number....is that number the absolute value of a negative number....is that number in positive form example |3| = 3 |-3| = 3
