factorise: x^4-2x^3+x-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know how to do polynomial long division yet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try factoring out an x^3 from the first two terms.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i actually factorised it and got (x+1) (x-2) ( x^2+1) however when i expand im not getting the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i really tried to do this i did the lond division to get the polynomial and the i tried to factorise the polynomial like i would normally do but im just failing horribly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Note x^4-2x^3+x-2 = x^3(x-2)+(x-2)

uh huh uh huh
