3x-y=-5 x-y=-1

OpenStudy (harsimran_hs4):

question is to solve ? if yes subtract 2nd eq from 1st

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you subtract the 1st equation to 2nd equation\[3x-y=-5\]-(SUBTRACT)\[x-y=-1\]You get\[2x=-4\]\[x=-2\]Substitute the value of x to any equation. I choose the second one.\[x-y=-1\]\[(-2)-y=-1\]\[-y=-1+2\]\[-y=1\]\[y=-1\]
