How many terms are in this sum? 5x - 6a + 8

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

....with addition and subtraction you cannot combine x's with anything other than another x....you cannot combine a's with anything other than other a's...you cannot combine a constant number with ANYTHING other than another constant number...see a pattern? so if you cannot combine ANYTHING here....how many terms will we have?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

if you cannot combine anything....then the equation stays the same... if you have 3a + 6x...they cant be combined...so they just stay like that...and you have those 2 terms in the sum ...there you go... with the 3
