Explain why the U.S. Government's policy that encouraged the slaughter of buffalo was a huge blow to the Plains Indian tribes.
Well, what did the Plains Indian tribes base their lives around as far as hunting and where to live?
I'll give you a hint, basically the policy that your talkinga bout affected every part of the Plains Indians lives.
They followed the buffalo wherever the moved to because that was their source of food..?
Yep, so what happens when you have no food and start starving?
Well a lot of things can happen. Some people will go crazy and try to get back at them..
What the policy did was it took away the main source of sustinace for the Indians. They relied on the Buffalo not only for food, but for tools, shelter, and clothing too. The lack of Buffalo made it impossible for the Indians to actually have a good life and they faced many hardships because of the policy.
