Chapter 5
There was a gasp heard and the mother, daughter, king, and prince ran to the room how sovereigns would run, to explain.
“Ladies and gentlemen I am frightfully sorry for the scene you have just witnessed. The maid was not fast enough to close the door. I arrested the man for assisting my real father in taking money and jewelry from my mother. He was the one who put the idea into his head. A show of hands; that wants me to arrest my father for such a crime?” Queen Anna asked the audience. Many people raised their hand. “I will arrest him now. You there go get the guards and tell them there is another prisoner. Be quick about it and don’t fall.” Queen Anna said to a servant.
The servant hurried out of the room to do her command. In a few minutes, the guards came and took Queen Anna’s biological father to prison.
“I’m glad I didn’t have to deal with him and that all of you don’t haven’t to worry about hiding your belongings. Now back to those lessons,” Anna said.
Prince Edward has his mouth agape and his facial expression was anger. “Yes why don’t we, maybe I’ll forget about you arresting my father,” he said sarcastically.
By that time, everyone else had his or her mouth agape.
“Oh boy this will soon be public to every other country that has a king or queen. I do not like it when we draw attention to ourselves,” King Gordon said to Queen Anna.
“The last time that happened in history—,” Marianna started to say.
“I know this: it was when you married two people,” said Anna.
“I did not do that, I confined your father already, you didn’t need to do that again. What a disgrace. I suppose you don’t need to be queen of Sativa,” said Marianna.
“I told you she would be a disgrace to us,” said King Gordon.
“Is there any other country that hasn’t been claimed? I don’t believe there is, if there is then I didn’t learn of it,” Queen Anna said.
“Well actually I didn’t teach you that lesson,” Marianna said. “The only country not claimed is Eluvia the country’s source is mercury and it has dreadfully warm springs, humid summers, and harsh winters. In the time of your great-great-great grandmother, she claimed it. Your Great-great-great-great Aunt Martha claimed it. She would have everybody outside in the spring. In the summer, everybody would be on a veranda until it started raining. In the winter, she would not let a single person outside. One winter your biological fathers' great-great-great-grandfathers army attached them. The army won because they caught your great-great-great-great aunt by surprise. They took all the mercury they could find in the castle except one. That one we have in our room to take the temperature outside everyday. That is how we knew when to not let you go riding when the temperature was below 75. You can catch a cold just from being outside when the temperature is below 75. There is lots of vegetation in Eluvia so you do not have a lot of room to go riding. Only on the trails can you go riding,”
“You act like you’ve been there.” Prince Edward said suspiciously.
“That’s because that is where my husband took me on our honeymoon. That is when we found the thermometer it was hidden in the bedroom and was almost to the point that it would leak. If it leaked, we would have died. Therefore, we stopped, packed up, and left taking the thermometer with us back to the castle to be inspected by someone. When we got to the castle the thermometer was about to leak. Therefore, we told our servants to take our suitcases to our room and unpack them for us. We took the thermometer to Margay Shaw. He took the thermometer and fixed it up so perfectly that we had to give him the job of repairing things in the castle. However, he turned it down. He began to tell this very tale:
“‘At one point I was in the castle, that was when I was young. Every other day my papa would take me to work with him. One day while my papa was working in his workshop on a wooden doll, a royal carriage stopped in front of the workshop. Out came the prince.
“‘Are you the constructor?’ he asked.
“‘Yes I am, may I be of service, Your Highness?’ my father asked.
“‘Yes, report to the castle as soon as possible. You are needed to construct Her Majesty a dresser.’
“‘Then the prince left, my papa finished the doll and went to deliver it to a woman. He came back a few minutes later to get some tools to bring to the castle. We went to the castle, but when we got there, the guards arrested us for coming without an invitation.
“‘The prince came to me this morning to tell me to report to the castle to construct a dresser for Her Majesty. Is that not enough proof?’
“‘I am afraid not.’
“‘Then go ask the prince yourself.’ Papa said angrily.
“‘I will, right after I arrest you,’ said the guard.
“‘He took my papa and me both to the dungeon. There he left us and was back in a few minutes to say. ‘The prince says that he did not order you to the castle.’
“‘Right then and there we knew that we were in for a long stay in the dungeon. That night the prince came to the dungeon and set us free. He took us to the gates and told us to run to the village before they find us missing. That same guard still stands there watching the gates. That’s why I won’t have a job in the castle.’”
By this time, Prince Edward was yawning and half asleep.
“Is it night already?” Queen Anna asked.
“To him it is but to us it isn’t. You there, the one with the tray of cupcakes, give everyone in this room a room to sleep in,” Marianna commanded.
Everyone started piling out in order to get their own bedroom to sleep in whereas the royalists went to their own bedchamber where no one but them could sleep. Prince Edward brought his stuff into Anna’s room. When he was done putting things away Anna got a bed out of the closet. That bed was where Prince Edward was going to sleep.
The next morning Queen Anna woke to find Prince Sanford in her bed next to her.
