what is the major difference of music between the renaissance age and the medieval age ?

Medieval music was monophonic, which at the end of the medieval period developed into polyphonic music. The music most accepted by society was through the pope-all sacred and religious. During the Renaissance they started singing songs in the people's modern language (instead of latin), and hymns were introduced. Different kinds of music were also introduced. Singing a capella, opera, and instrumental.
