(4x5)+(8x6)+(2)(1/2)(6x4)+(8x sqrt(4^2 +6^2))= surface area

149.69 --> 150

Thank you but I was looking for the lateral area. I can come up with a number but the answer is supposed to look like this: _ _ + _ _ sq rt _ _. I don't have a clue where to even start.

ohh sorry i read it wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lateral area= perimeter of base x height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure but something like this 8(10+sqrt(52)) 8(10+2sqrt(13)) --> 80+16sqrt(13) hope its right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you! But how did you come up with that? i would really like to learn this stuff. :)

|dw:1363415463932:dw| I looked the equation up because i didnt know it but you know your perimeter is the sum of the numbers around the side of in this case you base so that is why you add 6 + 4+ \[\sqrt{4^2+6^2}\] and you simplify so you get 10+ 2sqrt(13) then you just multiply by your height which is 8
